Setting Up Email in BlueMail (Android) – Firstserv Guide

This guide explains how to set up your Firstserv email account using the BlueMail app on an Android device.

Before You Begin

Ensure that:

  • ✅ Your email account has been created in cPanel
  • ✅ You have your email address and password
  • ✅ You have your mail server settings (if required)

Choosing Your Setup Method

There are two ways to configure your email account. We recommend Option 1 where possible.

Option 1 (Recommended): Use mail.yourdomain

Example

If your domain is:

example.co.uk

Use:

mail.example.co.uk

for both:

  • Incoming (IMAP) server
  • Outgoing (SMTP) server

Requirements

  • Your domain’s A record points to your Firstserv server
  • SSL is enabled (a Let’s Encrypt certificate is issued automatically once configured correctly)

Benefits

✅ No need to update settings if you change hosting servers
✅ Cleaner and more reliable configuration

Option 2: Use Server Hostname

  • Uses your hosting server name instead
  • No prerequisites required

⚠️ If you move hosting servers in future, you will need to reconfigure your email settings.

Step-by-Step Setup in BlueMail

Step 1: Open BlueMail

  • Launch the BlueMail app

If Adding an Additional Account

  1. Tap your account name at the top

  • IMAP Server:
    • mail.yourdomain.com (recommended)
    • or your server hostname
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Authentication: Plain
  • Port: 993

Tap Next

Step 6: Configure Outgoing Mail Server

Confirm the following:

  • SMTP Server:
    • mail.yourdomain.com (recommended)
    • or your server hostname
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 465
  • Require Sign-In: Enabled
  • Authentication: Automatic
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email password

Tap Next

Step 7: Finalise Setup

  • Enter:
    • Name (how your emails appear to recipients)
    • Description (for your reference)

Tap Done

Account Notifications

  • Adjust notification settings if required
  • Tap Done again to complete setup

What Happens Next

Why Use IMAP?

  • Keeps emails stored on the server
  • Syncs across multiple devices
  • Reduces risk of losing emails
