Setting Up Email in the Outlook App (Firstserv Guide)
This guide explains how to add your Firstserv email account to the Microsoft Outlook app.
The setup process is very similar across iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
- ✅ Your email account has been created in cPanel
- ✅ You have your email address and password
- ✅ You have your mail server settings (if required)
Choosing Your Setup Method
There are two ways to configure your email account. We recommend Option 1 where possible.
Option 1 (Recommended): Use mail.yourdomain
Example
If your domain is:
example.co.uk
Use:
mail.example.co.uk
for both incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) servers.
Requirements
- Your domain’s A record points to your Firstserv server
- SSL is enabled (automatically provided via Let’s Encrypt once configured correctly)
Benefits
✅ No need to update email settings if you change hosting servers
✅ More consistent and future-proof setup
Option 2: Use Server Hostname
- Uses your server’s hostname instead of your domain
- No setup prerequisites
⚠️ If you move hosting servers later, you will need to update your email settings on all devices
Step-by-Step Setup in Outlook App
If This Is Your First Account
- Open the Outlook app
- Go directly to Add Account
If You Already Have Accounts in Outlook
- Tap your account icon/initial (top corner)
- Open Settings (gear icon)
- Tap Add Account → Add Email Account
Step 1: Enter Your Email Address
- Enter your email address
- Tap Add Account
Step 2: Account Detection
Outlook will usually detect your account automatically as IMAP.
- Enter:
- Your email password
- A display name (optional)
- A description (optional)
Tap Sign In
If Auto-Detection Fails
If Outlook selects the wrong account type:
- Choose Set up manually
- Select IMAP
- Enter your email password
Recommended IMAP Settings
If you need to enter details manually:
Incoming Mail (IMAP)
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com(or server hostname) - Port:
993 - Encryption: SSL/TLS
Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com(or server hostname) - Port:
465or587 - Encryption: SSL/TLS
Step 3: Complete Setup
- Once credentials are confirmed, tap Done
✅ Your mailbox will begin syncing automatically
✅ Emails stored on the server will appear in the app

- Keeps emails stored on the server
- Syncs across multiple devices
- Prevents data loss if a device fails

To set up Outlook on mobile:
- Add a new account in Outlook
