How to Create a Screen Recording (Firstserv Guide)

A screen recording allows you to capture everything happening on your screen in real time. This can be extremely useful for:

  • Demonstrating processes or workflows
  • Creating tutorials
  • Reporting technical issues
  • Providing clear visual explanations

By sharing a recording, you can often avoid lengthy written descriptions and make it easier for others to understand and assist.

Creating a Screen Recording

There are many tools available for screen recording. One simple, browser-based option is screen-recorder.com.
Please note: this is a third-party tool. Firstserv is not affiliated with it, and you should use it at your own discretion.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Tool

Visit:
https://screen-recorder.com
in your web browser.

2. Start the Recorder

  • Click the “Start Recording” button on the homepage
  • If prompted, allow your browser permission to record your screen

3. Choose What to Record

Select one of the following options:

  • Entire Screen – records everything displayed
  • Application Window – records a specific program
  • Browser Tab – records a single tab

You can also choose to enable:

  • Microphone audio
  • System audio (if supported)

4. Begin Recording

  • Click “Share” to start recording
  • A short countdown will begin before recording starts

5. Stop Recording

  • Click the “Stop” button in the recording interface or browser toolbar

6. Save Your Recording

  • Once recording stops, your video will be processed
  • You’ll be given the option to download the file to your device

Optional Editing

Before downloading, you may be able to:

  • Preview your recording
  • Trim unwanted sections
  • Adjust video quality

Tip for Support Requests

If you’re submitting a recording to Firstserv support, try to:

  • Clearly show the issue from start to finish
  • Include any error messages
  • Avoid sharing sensitive information

Screen recordings can significantly speed up troubleshooting and help our team assist you more effectively.
