Changing Your VPS Root Password (Firstserv)

The root password for your VPS is the master password used for both WHM and your primary cPanel account. Keeping this password secure and up to date is essential for maintaining the security of your server.

Change Root Password via WHM

You can update your VPS root password directly within WHM by following these steps:

  1. Log in to WHM (Web Host Manager)
  2. Navigate to:
Server Configuration → Change Root Password
  3. Enter your new password in the New Root Password field
  4. Re-enter the same password in the Confirm Password field
    • Click the eye icon to show or hide the password while typing
    • Use the Generate button if you’d like WHM to create a secure, random password
  5. Click Change Password to apply the update

✅ Once completed, your new root password will be active immediately.

Important Tips

  • Use a strong, unique password to protect your VPS
  • Store your password securely (e.g. in a password manager)
  • Update any saved credentials in tools or applications that access your server
