Transferring a .sch.uk Domain to Firstserv
Firstserv supports .sch.uk domains, with a simple and free transfer process.
Unlike most domain transfers, .sch.uk domains use an IPS Tag system (managed by Nominet) instead of authorisation (EPP) codes.

Important Information
✅ Cost
- Transfers are completely free of charge
✅ Downtime
- Changing the IPS Tag does not affect your website or email services
- As long as your DNS settings remain unchanged, everything will continue to work normally during the transfer
⚠️ DNS Considerations
Before transferring, check how your DNS is currently configured:
If your domain already uses Firstserv nameservers:
- ✅ No changes are required
If your DNS is hosted with your current registrar:
⚠️ Some providers may remove your DNS zone after transfer, which can lead to downtime.
👉 We recommend:
- Taking a backup of your DNS records before starting
- Sharing them with Firstserv if needed so we can replicate them immediately
