Managing DNS in BusyRacks (Firstserv DNS Manager)

This guide explains how to access and manage your DNS records using BusyRacks, the Firstserv DNS management platform.


Access the DNS Manager

  1. Log in to your Firstserv Client Area
  2. In the left-hand menu, click DNS Records (BusyRacks DNS Manager)

Create a DNS Zone (If Needed)

If you see a message such as:

Domain is not yet set up for DNS

👉 Click:

Create Zone for Domain

âś… This enables DNS management for your domain


Point Your Domain to Firstserv Nameservers

To use BusyRacks, your domain must use Firstserv nameservers:

ns1.firstserv.com  
ns2.firstserv.com

How to Update Nameservers

  • If your domain is registered with Firstserv:

    • Click Automatically update nameservers
  • If registered elsewhere:

    • Update nameservers via your domain registrar

Add or Edit DNS Records


Create a New Record

  1. Click Create Record
  2. Select the record type:
    • A
    • CNAME
    • MX
    • TXT, etc.

Enter Record Details

  • Name:

    • @ → root domain (e.g. yourdomain.com)
    • www, mail, etc. → subdomains
  • Target / Value:

    • IP address (A record)
    • Domain name (CNAME/MX)
  • Priority:

    • Required for MX records
  • TTL:

    • Leave default unless you have specific requirements

Save the Record

  • Click Save after entering the details

âś… Your record is now added or updated


Common DNS Record Types

A Record

  • Points a domain or subdomain to an IPv4 address
@ → 123.123.123.123

CNAME Record

  • Aliases one domain to another
www → yourdomain.com

MX Record

  • Routes email to your mail server
@ → mail.yourdomain.com

TXT Record

  • Stores text data (used for verification and email security)
    Examples:
  • SPF records
  • Domain verification codes

Verify Your Changes

  • DNS changes take time to propagate
  • ⏱️ Typically up to 24 hours (often much faster)

What to Expect

  • Some users may see old records during propagation
  • Changes will gradually update worldwide

When to Use BusyRacks

Use BusyRacks whenever you need to:

  • âś… Add or edit DNS records
  • âś… Point your domain to a website or server
  • âś… Configure email (MX, SPF, etc.)
  • âś… Verify domain ownership
