Dedicated IP Addresses on Firstserv Hosting

Do I Need a Dedicated IP Address?

Due to the global exhaustion of IPv4 addresses, dedicated IPs are not provided on Firstserv shared hosting plans.

In most cases, a dedicated IP is no longer necessary for modern websites.

SSL Certificates Do Not Require a Dedicated IP

Previously, SSL certificates required a dedicated IP—but this is no longer the case.

✅ Firstserv provides free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates for all domains and hosting accounts, with full support for HTTPS on shared IPs.

When Are Dedicated IPs Available?

Dedicated IPs are included with:

  • VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting plans

Additional IP addresses may be available on request, but must be:

  • Justified (e.g. specific technical requirements)
  • Approved before allocation

Do Dedicated IPs Improve SEO?

No—having a dedicated IP does not improve your search engine rankings.

Search engines like Google do not give SEO advantages based on IP address type.

✅ What matters more for SEO:

  • Quality content
  • Site performance
  • User experience
  • Security (HTTPS)

Summary

  • ❌ Dedicated IPs are not available on shared hosting plans
  • ✅ SSL certificates work perfectly without a dedicated IP
  • ✅ VPS plans include dedicated IPs where needed
  • ❌ Dedicated IPs do not provide SEO benefits

If you’re unsure whether you need a dedicated IP for your project, the Firstserv support team is happy to help advise on the best solution.
