Enabling SSH Access (Firstserv Guide)
Firstserv provides secure, limited command-line access via SSH within a protected (caged) environment.

Enabling SSH (Cloud, Premium & Business Plans)
You can enable SSH directly from your Firstserv Client Area.
Step-by-Step
- Log in to your Firstserv Client Area
- Go to:
My Services
- Find your hosting package
- Click Manage
- In the right-hand menu, click:
Enable SSH
✅ Confirmation
- You’ll see a success message confirming SSH is enabled
- The option will then change to:
Disable SSH
Disabling SSH
To turn off SSH access:
- Go to:
My Services → Manage (your hosting)
- Click:
Disable SSH
✅ SSH access will be immediately disabled
Important Notes
- ✅ SSH access is optional and must be enabled manually
- ✅ Only limited shell access is provided for security
SFTP Access
- ✅ SFTP (secure file transfer) is available by default
- ❌ You do not need SSH enabled to use SFTP
👉 This allows secure file uploads/downloads at any time
Reseller Accounts
If you are using Reseller Hosting:
- ✅ Enable SSH on your reseller account first
- ✅ Then create WHM packages with SSH access enabled
- ✅ Assign these packages to your clients as needed
